Welcome to the home of Hatcher Alpine Xperience! The Matanuska-Susitna Valley’s nonprofit dedicated to bringing lift-access skiing to one of the greatest mountain passes of all time; Hatcher Pass.
We are a group of local volunteers working to (finally) bring downhill skiing to the valley. We have entered into a management agreement with the MatSu Borough to operate a small ski area on their land. Our development will have an incremental and phased approach. Phase 1a includes: A 2,400 sq. ft. maintenance shed to house our volunteer’s snowcat, approximately 8 miles of trail clearing, temporary warming facilities and a beginner (triple) chair lift. Phase 1b will include: parking lot and access road updates, a day lodge and a high speed quad lift. Our growth is entirely dependent on the support from our community! This past winter we cleared more than 3 miles of trails and were already out grooming them!! We have also been busy building our maintenance shed- check out our progress here.

Here is a map of our latest fundraising goal- phase 1a. Phase 1a will include a 1,250′ triple chairlift and all the basic infrastructure to begin operations. This will be an awesome beginner chair and a great way to get valley folks up and learning to ski/snowboard!
